Hypoallergenic
Let’s start with the benefits of their coat. Thanks to the Poodle in the cross the dogs have little to no shedding depending on how curly the coat, making them hypoallergenic and a great option for those who want a dog, but the dander makes them sneeze.
Temperament and Intelligence
While we are giving praise to the foundation breeds, thanks to the Bernese Mountain Dog this cross is exceptional with young children and families due to their mellow temperament. They are affectionate and build a strong bond with their families, they love to play, but settle quickly.
Both the Poodle and and Bernese Mountain Dog share the quality of being intelligent. This trait give the Bernedoodle a high level of intelligence, and because they also ‘aim to please’ their owners, Bernedoodles learn quickly, and are easy to train.
At KA Bernedoodles we know that at an early age, this cross enjoys being socialized. They truly enjoy being around people, and tend to have goofy, fun personalities. We encourage you to continue to socialize your Bernedoodle and they will be a hit with any new person they meet.
Strong Health Characteristics
Health qualities of the Bernedoodle. Both the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Standard Poodle (our two foundation breeds) are not in any of the lists of dog breeds reporting hip issues. However, our foundation dogs have been hip certified along with tested for, and cleared of any other genetic issues. This hybrid vigour breed makes them generally healthier than purebred breeds that have been subject to line breeding.
